LPN Competency Profile
This Competency Profile includes the knowledge, skills, behaviours and attitudes required by a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Prince Edward Island.
PEI Evaluation of Hours
The regulations require an LPN to practice as a licensed practical nurse for a minimum 1000 hours in the immediately preceding five years to maintain eligibility for licensure.
RNs and LPNs Working Together
Having a full understanding of the different contributions of RNs and LPNs will enhance and improve the process of collaboration and effective decision-making in the clinical setting.

USE of Protected LPN Title
A person holding a valid license is entitled to use the title “Licensed Practical Nurse” the abbreviation “LPN” or such other reserved designation of similar meaning as may be prescribed.
