Barb Boudreau, LPN OR Anaesthetic TechnicianLPN Since 1966 "Every day nursing presents something new. I love responding to the challenge." |
|
| Barb always wanted to be a nurse - she couldn’t imagine doing anything else. After four decades in practice, Barb’s desire to provide nursing care hasn’t waned. Why? - Nursing can’t be boring. The constant changes necessary for excellent patient care ensure the work is always interesting. In the operating room, Barb works under pressure. She’s consistently alert to the needs of both the patient and the health care team. Since situations can change quickly, Barb must be prepared for the unexpected. She understands surgery is a worrisome experience and she takes pride in her ability to be supportive during this difficult time. While certain procedures may be considered routine, she takes pride in providing personalized care to every patient. Even though she “officially” retired, Barb hasn’t stopped nursing. She continues her career in the operating room in a temporary position. Recently, Barb successfully completed a health assessment course at UPEI. This was her first university experience. She took on the challenge because she wanted to demonstrate that you are never too old to learn. |
